Harmony Family,

As we begin a new school year, our campus staff is already hard at work planning and preparing for an amazing year. First, we are pleased to announce that our name has been officially changed to Harmony School of Innovation Dallas. This is a great opportunity for us to usher in a new year of innovative ideas and new opportunities for our student community.

We will have some new teachers and campus leaders joining us this year and we are pleased to announce that we have a new Campus Principal, Mr. Huseyin Sari, who comes to us from the HSA Carrollton campus. Mr. Eric Abaci will remain with us to lead the teachers as our AP Dean of Academics and Ms. Tina Stephens will fill the AP Dean of Students role this year. Mr. Abaci has been at our campus for five years and Ms. Stephens came to us last spring from HSA Carrollton. Ms. Medine Tosun has also joined our Admin Team as our AP Head Counselor. She was most recently a Counselor at HSA Dallas and brings several years of experience to this campus with her.

We will announce some new plans soon for ways to build our school culture, and we want to involve all stakeholders. We will have sign-ups for parents and students who want to volunteer for the Campus Culture Council at Orientation and online at VOLY via our website. This council will be comprised of students, staff, parents, and community members who want to focus on identifying our school values and help us become a State School of Character. Stay tuned – it’s going to be very exciting for all!

Please attend our Orientation on Friday, August 9. We will be open from 9 am to 5 pm and this is an open house event so come whenever you can during this time. School uniform shirts, after school care, a new partnership with Kenpo Karate and schedules will be available. All families are invited to sign up for a home visit on this day as well. All new students and all 9th-grade students should come prepared to get your photo taken for your ID Badge. Our staff will also be available so you can meet your teachers. Our Admin Team and Campus Leadership Team will also be on hand to answer questions and, most importantly, get to know our Harmony Family.

School starts on August 15th and classes begin at 7:45 am and the final bell rings at 3 pm. After school clubs will begin after the first two weeks of school. Students, parents, and staff can submit ideas and requests for all after school clubs during Orientation. Please give us your feedback so we can build quality after school program for all of our students.

All families should be sure to update all information including contact information, medications, immunizations, and any other items relevant to your student prior to the first day of school. We will have all of this available at Orientation August 9th or after that by visiting our school office. All medications must be renewed and the medication form must be up to date. Immunizations must also be up to date. Student health and safety is our priority. We need your help in order to care for your student each day.

Harmony will also launch a new after school program that will be available for a fee and open from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm each school day. For more information, visit the Harmony Education Foundation website at harmonyed.org and click on the word “Afterschool” at the top. There is great information there about the curriculum, staff, and cost for this new and very exciting opportunity for after school programs. They will be available to begin caring for our students on the first day of school, so, please sign up early.

Every student on campus will be assigned a Chromebook to use while on campus each day. Each student will pick up their assigned technology from their advisory class before school starts (from 7:30-7:45 am) and then return it to the advisory room at the end of each day to charge. All students and their parents must sign and return the Chromebook agreement available during Orientation in order to participate in this program. We use technology every day in almost every classroom so this is a big step for our students to have the technology with them all day as they learn to model professional internet standards and use technology as a tool in their education.

Parent meetings will be held in September for each grade level to address curriculum, introduce our teaching and leadership staff, and most importantly, meet our Harmony Family to share information and ideas as we all move forward together. These meetings are essential so that we can keep you up-to-date, you can meet other HSI Dallas families, and we can all foster open dialogue to improve our school for each student.
